Histories of Hemphill County: River Valley Pioneer Museum
For
years, there were three doctors in Canadian: Dr. E.H. Snyder,
Dr. Rush Snyder, and Dr. E.H. Morris.
Dr. E.H. Snyder established his family medical practice in
1908 and built the Snyder Clinic at 405 Main Street in 1916.
Dr. Rush Snyder joined his father at the Snyder Clinic in May,
1948. Dr Rush Snyder worked at the practice for 37 years. His
retirement marked the end of 77 years of medical service to the
community by the Snyders. All three of his children became doctors.
Dr. Rush Snyder Jr., and Dr. Nona Dale Fulton, both practice in
Amarillo, and Dr. Edward Snyder practices in San Angelo.
Dr. E.H. Morris lived and practiced medicine in Canadian for
more than half a century. He came here in 1924 to take over the
original Canadian Hospital, which he operated until 1948, when
the first Hemphill County Hospital was opened.
