Annual Events

Member/Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is held in January to pay tribute to members and volunteers who work through the year on the museum's behalf.

C.I.S.D. Student Art Show is generally held in April. This event, which showcases the many talented young artists enrolled in C.I.S.D.'s art classes, is well receive and promises to be an annual affair.

Gala and Auction Fundraiser is held in October. Generous local and area merchants donate items to be auctioned each year, raising on average $8000 each year for museum projects. We provide delicious food, live entertainment and great auction items. All proceeds benefit the museum. For more information call 806/323-6548.

July Artist of the Month is honored with a reception as part of the 4th of July festivities.

July 4th old timers Reunion and BBQ is held at City Hall. More than 350 guests enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner with all the trimming for only $7 and those admitting to be over 65 get in free! Music and awards are presented to the oldest old-timer and those who have traveled the farthest distance to this popular event.

October Artist of the Month is a well-attended exhibit during the Fall Foliage Festival. A reception is held Saturday to honor the selected artist.

Fall Foliage Quilt Show is a wonderful opportunity to display quilts both old and new. Generally over 60 quilts are entered into this show. Visitors have a hard time casting ballots for their favorite quilt.

The Ladies Hat Luncheon is a unique way for the RVPM Board to honor a woman in the community whose works and spirit exemplify our pioneer spirit. A catered lunch, style show, and entertainment are provided for the honoree(s) and guests. The past three Hat Luncheons have been extremely popular and with many worthy candidates in our area, it is hopeful to hold this event every other year.

Mother/Daughter Luncheon was a wonderful event we held in 2007 for the first time. Because it was so popular, we hope to hold it every other year if not every year. A delicious lunch was served, an interesting program was given by story teller Loralee Cooley, and door prizes were given. Beautiful enlarged photographs of mothers and daughters were used to decorate the luncheon area. These photographs were developed from a glass negative collection the museum owns which were taken by early 20th century photographer Julius Born.
